Excitement fills the halls of a well-to-do German-Jewish family in 1939 Atlanta as middle-aged businessman Adolph, his sister Boo, shrewish sister-in-law Reba, and nieces Sunny and Lala decorate their “Jewish Christmas tree.” But when Adolph’s employee Joe, a charming young man and Eastern European Jew, drops by as the family prepares for Ballyhoo – the peak social event of the year – long-buried prejudices rise to the surface. The family is then forced to examine their own biases, beliefs and religious identities.

Our Book Club is open to all adults 60 and better. Meet with others who enjoy reading and take part in a lively discussion about the book of the month. This group meets at 12:45 PM on the first Wednesday of every month. Facilitator: Donna Scott
This program will resume later this year.
Great Books discussion groups are lively, friendly, sometimes contentious - and a good deal of fun. Participants challenge their own and others’ beliefs and opinions in the light of a rich, thought-provoking text. The group is currently reading from Great Conversations #6 and Great Books: The Soul of the Text. To learn more contact the group facilitator, Louis Wu, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This group will meet at Westbury United Methodist Church through December 2017.
