Elementary school families will make Rosh Hashanah cards and gifts bags for Jewish Family Services clients. We'll also enjoy High Holiday songs with Rabbi Ranon Teller. Come take part in this meaningful holiday activity as we kick off our first Sunday event.
We will also be collecting kosher peanut butter, canned tuna and canned fruit for JFS senior clients.
No babysitting will be provided at this event.

Jewish New Year's Rockin' Eve with Mishpacha & Me and Shabbatify

For ages 0-10
Celebrate the Jewish New Year with the whole family. First, join us for a Crocodile Encounter show, and come find out what crocodiles and Rosh Hashanah have in common! Then local favorite song leader and teacher, Jon Swann, will lead us in some musical holiday fun. We will end our time together with a countdown to our Big Apple Ball Drop! Enjoy lots of apple treats too!

Relaxing Family Fun Tashlich with Mishpacha & Me and Shabbatify

We will start with family yoga classes with a New Year theme. There will be a class for both younger and older kids along with their parents. Then we will all walk over to the bayou for a short Tashlich service to cast away our regrets and start fresh for the New Year. Snacks and bread will be provided.

Shabbatify Book Fair Event

For families with kids in K-5th grades
Join us for an afternoon of family fun! First, kids will participate in a Comic Book Workshop with Hereville author and artist Barry Deutch, while parents discuss how to teach sexuality to their children with educator and social worker Meryl Cohen. Families will then come back together for campfire songs and havdallah led by Jon Swann.

Meet Our Family Outreach Specialist
Rachel Teichman has a BA from the University of California, San Diego, and an MBA from San Diego State University. She has spent much of her career in the arts and writing fields, and all of her volunteer work has involved Jewish and educational organizations.
She moved to Houston two years ago, and has been an active member of the Mishpacha & Me committee. A mother of two, she has been enjoying exploring Texas with her family, and is excited about launching Shabbatify! Please feel free to contact her with with any comments or suggestions.
