NEW! H-Town Swim Program
The countdown to H-Town has begun. Of course we are talking about the 2012 Maccabi Games and ArtsFest to be held in Houston Aug 5 – 10. The ERJCC welcomes Taylor Hunt as the new Head Coach for the 2012 Team Houston Maccabi Swim Team. Taylor brings 15+ years of coaching experience to the program and is looking to build a great team this year and years to come.
To help Team Houston rise to the top in 2012, we are offering all Jewish teens that are eligible Maccabi participants between the ages of 12 – 16 years old by July 31, 2012, the chance to participate in a NEW Swim Clinic program. This exciting program will have top notch local collegiate and high school swim team coaches and swimmers instructing our Team Houston athletes to achieve the best performances possible. These clinics will be in addition to the regular Maccabi Swim team practice schedule. More information on the practice schedule will be distributed at the tryouts. The fee for these clinics is $25 per clinic or all 5 clinics including the pre-tryout clinic for $100.
The Swim Clinic program will start out with a Pre-Tryout Clinic* on Sunday, Jan 22 from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. In addition to swimming preparation for the tryouts, there will be a discussion covering “What to Expect, Both in the Water and Out.”
The remaining four Clinics dates are shown below and will include topics such as:
- Clinic 1 - “Proper Technique” - February 19
- Clinic 2 - “Turns: Why They are Important” - March 18
- Clinic 3 - “Starts, Turns, and Finishes” - April 22
- Clinic 4 - “Race, Race, Race: the Mental Aspects of Racing” - May 20
Tryouts for the Team Houston Swim Team will be held on Sunday, Jan 29 from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.
*The Pre-tryout clinic is NOT in place of tryouts.
**All practices and Clinics will be in the ERJCC Proler Indoor Pool.
