Shabbatify Passover Event at the J

Evelyn Rubenstein JCC of Houston offers Shabbatify, a new monthly program at the J which brings families with children in grades K-5 together for meaningful and fun-filled Shabbat experiences. Parents and their children can join in the third free event on April 2 to celebrate Passover together at the J.

 
Generation of Leaders – The David H. White Award

Evelyn Rubenstein JCC of Houston will celebrate 80 years of Leadership at the Annual Meeting Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. The event highlights agency accomplishments but also recognizes volunteer leaders who have made a difference in building a stronger Jewish community.

One of the highlights of the program is the recognition of the recipient of the David H. White Award for 2016. The David H. White Selection Committee, chaired by Mark Brookner, has announced that this year’s distinguished award will be given to Gerald Merfish.

 
Evelyn Rubenstein JCC Honors Emerging Leaders at Annual Meeting

Evelyn Rubenstein JCC of Houston will hold a special 80th anniversary celebration during its Annual Meeting Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Kaplan Theatre. In addition to electing new members to the Board of Directors, and highlighting the last program year, organizers will honor volunteers including awarding the Reuben Askanase Past President Leadership Award to Jeremy Samuels and Jennifer Haikin Zach. 

 
L’Dor Vador: Three Generations of Poetry and Dance

Evelyn Rubenstein JCC of Houston presents L’Dor Vador, a performance of poetry and dance centered on three generations of a Jewish family. L’Dor Vador is Saturday, April 9 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 10 at 3:00 p.m. in the Kaplan Theatre.

12th Houston Jewish Film Festival

Evelyn Rubenstein JCC of Houston presents the 12th Houston Jewish Film Festival March 5-20, 2016. The festival showcases the best Jewish and Israeli films from around the world. Screenings will be held at the Evelyn Rubenstein JCC, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH), Holocaust Museum Houston (HMH), Sundance Cinemas, and Congregation Beth Jacob in Galveston. This year’s festival is comprised of 27 films over 16 days, and presents current documentary and feature films with meaningful Jewish or Israeli content.

Evelyn Rubenstein JCC of Houston presents Tap Jammin’ featuring three outstanding tappers Acia Gray & Tapestry Dance Company, Arthur Duncan, Ayodele Casel and the Pelayo Parlade Jazz Trio. Experience the gathering of three of the most recognizable hoofers in the world of rhythm in a syncopated trip through jazz and sound Saturday, February 13 at 8:00 p.m. in the Kaplan Theatre.
