The ERJCC's Adult Services Department offers Art, Music and Special Interest classes.

Art Classes
Beginning Ring Making Adult This class will equip students with basic ring fabrication knowledge. Unlike a general beginning metals class, this class will focus on a specialized skill set within metalsmithing, affording students the opportunity to create refined objects. Beginners are welcome. In class we will make one band ring in silver with a stone setting. Topics covered include texture on metal, sawing, metal properties, stone setting, soldering and design.
Jewelry Making Adult Learn the basic beginning skills to create your own jewelry. In this introductory metalsmithing class, learn design layout, sawing, piercing, riveting and beginning soldering. You will create at least one piece of jewelry.
Soap Making 101 Adult Discover the benefits and fun of making and using handmade soap. Not only can handmade soap be better for the skin, but it also allows the maker to be creative in the selection of ingredients, colors, fragrances and even shapes. Learn the basics of the craft through a step-by-step demonstration and discussion of necessary supplies and equipment. The technique demonstrated is known as “cold process,” which includes lye and vegetable oils as basic ingredients. Students will take home a bar of soap.
Painting 65+ YRS Explore the world of painting as you try your hand at creating landscapes, still life, or your very own special, original masterpiece.

Music
Beginning Guitar I Adult Learn to read music, proper left and right-hand technique, chords and strumming for song accompaniment.
Beginning Guitar II Adult A continuation of Beginning Guitar or for those who have had previous guitar lessons. The class will focus on movable chords, transposing, playing in different keys and picking techniques.

Baby Boomer Basic 101 & 102 Adult Trying to staying in touch with family beyond emails and phone calls? Do you feel like you are missing out on all of the pictures of the grandchildren? Would you like to share photos and video with family and friends? Begin with the basics of Facebook or maximize your use.
Baby Boomer Basic 102 Adult Already know the basics of Facebook? Join us for the just the second half of the basics class.
Mah Jongg Adult Like to play complex games? If you're interested in learning a new game, try Mah Jongg, an ancient Chinese tile game of both skill and luck. You will learn the basics of this fascinating game in just four sessions! Note: You must bring an official Standard Hands and Rule card. Mah Jongg sets will be provided.
Book Club Meeting 65+ YRS Meet with other members who enjoy reading, and take part in a lively discussion about the pre-selected book of the month. Book titles are announced a month ahead, and, in most cases, a reading guide is available in the Adult Services office.
Today's News 65+ YRS This discussion group will focus on current events. During every session, the group leader will present a newsworthy item for the group to discuss.
