Painting on Silk Workshop

Sunday, Oct 27 | 1:00 PM-5:00 PM
Instructor: Inga Strause-Godejord

Inga Strause-Godejord

Explore the simple, yet exquisite technique of painting on silk in this 4-hour workshop. Learn the Serti method in which you first trace the outline of your chosen design with gutta resist. Choose a pattern from the instructor's collection, or design your own. Then touch the colors on with a brush and watch them flow, blending in natural - and sometimes mysterious - ways on their own.

Working on 25" square silk crepe, we will create a finished painting in one day that may be worn or framed. Create delicate and dynamic patterns of color and texture on your silks, and leave with a small frame-able silk painting or silk scarf - perfect to wear or to give as a gorgeous gift.

Completing an original natural silk scarf will teach you the basic skills of design, color mixing, blending and texturizing. This technique is simple enough for absolute beginners, yet is also an exciting way for more experienced painters to transfer their talents to fabric.
