10:00 AM | Mishpacha & Me and PJ Library Event with Sheryl Haft
“In the small blue room there was a bubbala, and a little shmatta, and then— oy vey!—came the whole mishpacha!” Instead of whispers, this bedtime parody of Goodnight Moon includes dancing, kvelling, noshing, and celebrating the Jewish values of cherishing your loved ones and expressing gratitude.
Included are fun Yiddish words and an exclusive latke recipe by Ina Garten! Come dressed in your PJs and enjoy music and bedtime themed activities during the event.
2:00 PM | Family Performing Arts Series
Layer the Walls
Ages 7-12 | Kaplan Theatre at the J
The walls of a building often contain traces and impressions of lives once lived. This stage production is set within a tenement that is about to be torn down. The interior walls reveal a rich history plastered with over 40 layers, each layer is examined through the use of masks, toy-theater techniques and puppets to imagine the histories of the building’s Italian, Jewish and Irish occupants.
Layer the Walls is underwritten by Taryn & Dan Braun/Marian & Gaby Braun/Braun Enterprises
The Family Performing Arts Series is supported by a grant from The Yako Nesim Polikar Fund for Jewish Youth of the Houston Jewish Community Foundation.
