Olympic Inspired Fitness
It’s hard to watch the Olympics and not want to amp up your own fitness routine. Whether you’re inspired by the fastest man alive or the all-time record holder for most medals, there is plenty of motivation right now to get you back in the gym. In fact, fitness experts say that it's actually after the Olympics when people seek gym memberships and get more active with sports.
“My favorite part of the Olympics is watching in awe at physical abilities and physiques of all of the athletes," said Robin D. Fortenberry, Director of Fitness Services at the Evelyn Rubenstein JCC. "They actually push the limits of what is humanly possible. It reinstates my desire to push my limits and increase my own fitness levels.”
So now that you have already won half the battle with the motivation you need, next is making sure that wherever you choose to start, you do it slowly and correctly.
At the J, there are many choices to take fitness to a new level, whether it is in our fitness center, pools, gymnastics training center, spinning room, yoga studios or adult recreational sports. It’s important to start any new workout at a low level of intensity to build endurance to the training rather than going for the gold with an Olympian-workout on the first try. A gradual workout routine will minimize injuries and soreness.
“If watching the best athletes in the world inspires you to take your fitness to the next level or if you are just starting out, come by the Fitness Center and meet one of our professional Personal Trainers,” said Robin.
Fitness and medical experts agree that there are several keys to success in striving for excellence in athleticism. It’s important to establish routines, nutrition, mental preparation, proper rest and sleep habits and team building.
Let our personal trainers provide individualized fitness, structured workouts, and a personalized, guided routine to help you reach your fitness goals. Whether you’re going for the gold or satisfied with a bronze…anything that gets you moving is a winner in our book. Working with a personal trainer at the J will make your progress effective, efficient and enjoyable.
