On behalf of the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center Board of Trustees and staff, I would like to wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving. This holiday affords us the opportunity to spend time with family and friends and celebrate the wonderful Thanksgiving traditions.

Daily we are starting to see increased levels of activity at the J. As a thank you for your continued patience and support, watch for an announcement regarding program enrollment incentives and rewards for classes beginning in January.

We are also scheduling "hard hat tours" on Sunday, December 10 to tour the newly-renovated Bertha Alyce School (BAS) and Fitness Center. We are scheduled to transition BAS from the Merfish Teen Center to the BAS building in late December and re-open the Fitness Center in early January. Watch for details on tours and program incentives that will be announced after the holiday.

My goal is to begin renovations to the Weingarten Building lower level in early January, and I will provide updates on the elevator repairs as soon as we have additional information. Lower level renovations will require about 12 weeks to complete.

Special thanks to the more than 80 ExxonMobil volunteers that worked here on Friday, November 17. They replaced the plants in the Mystical Garden and painted many of our offices and classrooms and railings outside the building. The volunteers are part of our United Way Day of Caring program. Thank you ExxonMobil and United Way.

Plans are well underway for the 2018 J Camps season. All of our facilities will be fully operational for the upcoming summer as we plan for a full season of exciting summer camp programs.

Thanks for your continued support, and feel free to contact me at or 713.551.7232 if I can be of further assistance.
