Blynthia ScottWe are proud to announce that our very own Evelyn Rubenstein JCC Foster Grandparent volunteer, Blynthia Scott (AKA Granny Blu), has been selected as a nominee for WellCare | TexanPlus® Grand Champion. Blynthia, along with the other four Champions, exemplifies excellence by giving back to our local community and making a difference in the lives of older adults.

Granny Blu lives a life full of compassion and devotion. She volunteers as a Foster Grandparent 40 hours a week at the Harris County Psychiatric Center, working with youth with mental illness.

Not only is she a positive role model for children, she also volunteers in three other organizations and serves as an advocate and voice for older adults that reside in the Third Ward community.

She is passionate about connecting seniors with the resources they need. As a senior herself, Granny Blu serves her community without the expectation of recognition. Rain or shine, she rides the bus almost every day to volunteer.

Ms. Scott is dedicated to improving the quality of life for seniors and empowering our youth to build tomorrow’s leaders. Blynthia Scott is a true champion in everything she does for the senior community.

Each day through Sept 14, please vote for Granny Blu for Grand Champion, and ask your friends and family to vote also.

If she receives the most votes, Blynthia will receive a $25,000 donation for her designated charity, the Foster Grandparent Program of Harris County sponsored by the J. By participating you will be helping support older adults serving as mentors in Harris County.
