Volunteers like Michael Brown sustain the Meals on Wheels program at the J. With the summer here, many of our regular volunteers go on vacation, and our local homebound seniors still need their daily hot meal and a friendly face.
We need regular volunteers just as much as we need a casual volunteer to come help once or twice each month.
Michael shares his rewarding experience about the program:
“This is my tenth year delivering for the program, and I have to say it's been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. My commitment is not confined to delivering meals but also to socializing with and checking on the well-being of the clients, many of whom have no regular contact with the outside world except for the program's drivers. I look forward to many more years volunteering with the program.”
