Leslie Morrison and FamilyOur Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver hot lunches to homebound seniors Monday-Friday. Leslie Morrison is one of our regular volunteer drivers, and she brings her three children to help. She recently reflected on her experience volunteering for Meals on Wheels:

"J Meals on Wheels has meant so much to me and my family. As a homeschool mother, it was important to me to find a kid-friendly volunteer organization. I never would have dreamt that we would gain so much, or that we would develop such close relationships with the people on our weekly delivery route."

"In the two-and-a-half years we’ve been with J Meals on Wheels, my children have been exposed to many life experiences: organ donation, dementia, cancer, financial distress, loneliness, language barriers, and even death. These issues may sound too heavy for children, but they have been the catalyst for amazing conversations and have helped to cultivate empathy in a powerful, yet natural way."

"We genuinely look forward to our Tuesday deliveries. There’s nothing quite like Patricia answering the door with an enthusiast 'yippee,' a sincere 'bless yo heart' from Nana, or Vina declaring, 'The children are here!' We give smiles, hugs, warm conversation, and a healthy meal. In return, the people on our delivery route shower us with love. I think it’s fair to say that J Meals on Wheels volunteers are as grateful to serve as the recipients are to receive."
