Reopening Health and Safety Guidelines

Wednesday, May 27, 2020
Posted by: Joel Dinkin, CEO, and Jeremy Samuels, President, Board of Trustees
On behalf of the entire J staff and board of trustees, we look forward to reopening the fitness and tennis centers and outdoor pool this Sunday, May 31. So much has changed since we closed on March 16, and it is essential that you take the time to review a number of critically important documents to maximize everyone’s health and safety.

We feel that it is important to create a partnership with our members who will use the J, parents whose children will be attending programs and the J staff, understanding that everyone will play a critical role in maintaining a healthy and safe environment. The guidelines were developed by an advisory committee consisting of local health experts, J board and professional staff leadership and community members. Please review the guidelines and expectations.

There are two critically important elements as outlined in the guidelines as part of this partnership: parents of children and all adults will be asked to perform a temperature check at home prior to arriving at the J. Also as part of this partnership, and in accordance with CDC and state guidelines, parents of children and all adults will answer a set of health screening questions using an online application prior to entering any J facility which also will include a validation of one’s temperature.

These two required protocols are outlined in the guidelines. Note that the online screening application includes a liability release waiver that everyone will complete as part of the screening process.

In addition to the health and safety guidelines, our staff have created specific facility/program documents to provide details on what to expect within each of the program areas, operating hours, cleaning protocols, etc. Please review the various documents

Prior to opening BAS, West Houston, Gymnastics and Summer Fun, we will share these respective program and facility protocols. We expect to announce a date to reopen these program areas in early June. Also, a reminder that in this initial phase, use of the facilities is for adults 18 and over.

All of the health and safety guidelines and protocols have been created to ensure everyone’s health and safety, and your full participation and partnership is required and essential. Anyone that does not complete the daily screenings will not be permitted to enter the J to use any programs or facilities.
