SPRING VIRTUAL COMMUNITY READ

Jennifer Steil, author of Exile Music
In conversation with Elizabeth L. Silver, author of The Tincture of Time: A Memoir of (Medical) Uncertainty

In this beautiful coming of age story, Orly enjoys an idyllic childhood in Vienna filled with music. Her father is a violist in the Philharmonic, and her mother is a well-regarded opera singer. Soon, Orly and her parents find themselves without money, friends or any knowledge of the Spanish language in La Paz, which seems unsophisticated compared to Vienna. Her family is haunted by the music that can no longer be their livelihood, and by the family and friends they left behind.

Join us for a night of music and conversation as we explore this exquisite novel that probes the definition of home, family, identity and the idea of reinvention, all while examining how music is a common language that binds people together.

The book will be available to be picked up at the J and we will email you when the book is ready.
