In conversation with Marilyn Hassid

Inspired by the true story of a longtime friend, Israeli author, David Grossman’s latest novel is full of suffering, love and healing.  It features three generations of women who are divided by secrets; 90-year-old Vera, her daughter Nina, and granddaughter Gili.  They travel together to Goli Otok, a barren island off the coast of Croatia where Vera was imprisoned and tortured years earlier after refusing to betray her husband. Gili, abandoned by Nina as a child, believes the journey will shed light on her own personal struggles, and we follow along to discover the truth.
