Shalom Y’all

Today we celebrate Yom Yerushalayim (Jerusalem Day) that marks the 50th anniversary to the reunification of the city I call home.

50 years. Liberation. Occupation. Unification. It’s all correct. It all ends in joy and pain. This is what its like in Jerusalem. It frees and conquers. It unites and divides. It dissolves boundaries but is also trapped within a wall.

And now, amidst turbulent surroundings, I invite everyone to take a moment and to shed all preconceived ideas. To fight the natural tendency to justify ourselves. To take a more open look at Jerusalem and to not only find ourselves within it, but others too.
