Tu B’Av is both an ancient and modern holiday that originally served as a matchmaking day for unmarried women in the land of Israel during the Second Temple period. The Talmud tells us that many years ago the “daughters of Jerusalem would go dance in the vineyards” on the 15th of Av, and “whoever did not have a wife would go there” to find himself a bride. This Jewish version of Valentine’s Day has been rejuvenated in recent decades, especially in the modern state of Israel.
The Medallion Jewish Assisted Living Residence will host a reception with light bites following the film.
