|Clay Soiree at the J|
|Tuesday, August 27, 2019|
Looking for something truly different and fun to do on a Thursday night? The Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center of Houston (the J) will host several upcoming “Clay Soiree” classes Thursdays, September 12, October 24 and November 14 from 7:00 PM-9:00 PM. In a relaxed and fun atmosphere, students can learn the rudiments of throwing on the pottery wheel in this hands-on class taught by one of the J’s experienced ceramics instructors.
“Clay Soiree is great for beginners and experienced artists, for date night and ladies night out.” stated Maxine Silberstein, Adult Visual Arts Program Coordinator.
Participants may bring their own refreshments and should wear clothes they don’t mind getting dirty. They should also bring a towel to cover their lap or wear an apron. The fee is $70 per person. Space is limited, and a minimum of five participants is required. Students are encouraged to invite friends and family and make a night of it.
Because it takes at least two sessions to finish thrown pottery, pieces made in this class are not completed. If this fun taste of the process leaves students wanting more, the J offers ongoing wheel throwing classes that teach the entire process from forming, glazing and firing to taking home one’s many ceramic creations!
