|The J Announces a Virtual Comedy Night|
|Thursday, April 23, 2020|
The Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center of Houston is excited to announce its virtual comedy night on Wednesday, May 6 at 7:30 PM. Jessica Kirson will join the Houston Jewish community online for an event to laugh away the quarantine blues.
In an era where only 10% of all touring comedians are female, Kirson stands out as one of the strongest comedians regardless of gender. She was awarded, "Best Female Comic" by the MAC association in New York City and recently accepted the Nightlife Award for "Best Stand up Comedian" in NYC. Kirson also recently premiered her first Comedy Central Special, Talking to Myself. She has a strong social media presence, and her videos online have over 30 million views.
Kirson has been featured on Comedy Central, VH1, Oxygen, Bravo, CNN, TV Land, and NBC’s Last Comic Standing. She has made two appearances on the The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and three appearances on The View. Kirson has been working with the Howard Stern Show producing and starring in prank calls and served as a consultant, producer, writer and actor in the Robert De Niro film The Comedian. De Niro calls her “a powerhouse on stage. A true professional.”
Kirson will be taking questions from the audience during the live event. Curious about how comedians cope during quarantine, or what her favorite binge-worthy Netflix show is? Maybe viewers want to know what her inspiration is for her comedy routines. Now is the chance to ask her. Viewers can also submit questions ahead of time, and they may be read live on the show! The event is free, although advance registration is required. For more information visit erjcchouston.org/comedy.
