J Teen Art Scene Get Your Art On

Houston, TX – Evelyn Rubenstein JCC of Houston is calling for submissions for the J Teen Art Scene. The 9th annual J Teen Art Scene exhibit showcases art of Jewish teens ages 13-18. The theme this year is CommUNITY. Artists' submissions should reflect the ways in which the teens contribute to the community and have helped unite people.

 
Exploring Your Faith in Israel

Houston, TX – Evelyn Rubenstein JCC of Houston and the YMCA of Greater Houston invite you to explore your faith in Israel May 27 - June 7, 2018. The trip is for adults 55 and older to travel to Israel to explore, discover and experience the country, the people and each other. You don’t have to be Jewish to explore your faith and be inspired by a real connection in this holy land. Jim and Marianne Paley made a similar trip to Israel in September.

For the Love Of Books...Volunteers at the Jewish Book & Arts Festival

Houston, TX – Evelyn Rubenstein JCC of Houston has a dedicated group of volunteers running the Bookstore at the Ann and Stephen Kaufman Jewish Book & Arts Festival. Esther Chess, Linda Chess, Carol Emery, Ellen Gaber, Ann Glazier, Sandy Gomel, Robin Greenspan, Louise Kershman, Beulah Maltz, Ruth Morris, Claire Noll, Sheila Sack, Leenie Skolnik and Beverly Sufian set aside two weeks each fall and spend countless hours volunteeing as book store managers at the Festival. Most of them have been doing it between 10-15 years.

Star Power Opens Jewish Book & Arts Festival  

Houston, TX – Stephen Tobolowsky returns to his Texas roots and takes the stage to open the Ann and Stephen Kaufman Jewish Book & Arts Festival October 28, 2017 at the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center of Houston. If the name doesn’t sound familiar his voice and face sure will. The actor/author has more than 250 credits to his name. Some of his most famous roles come from both comedies and dramas from Groundhog Day to Mississippi Burning. He's been on more than 200 TV shows ranging from Deadwood to Glee, most recently Silicon Valley and The Goldbergs. He also tells stories on the popular podcast The Tobolowsky Files
