TEEN PROGRAM: Blue Dove Foundation
Wednesday, Nov 11 | 7:00 PM
#QuietingTheSilence: Personal Stories
#QuietingTheSilence, an anthology of personal stories that each carry a message of courage, faith and hope and gives voice to individuals who have gone through life-changing experiences involving mental health and substance use. Those telling their stories share painful emotional struggles with their own mental illnesses and addictions, and those of their spouses, children, siblings and parents. Some have happy endings, others speak of heart-breaking loss.
Unfortunately, the shame and stigma that persist keep people from speaking out and seeking or offering help. The Blue Dove Foundation, a nonprofit based in Atlanta, is striving to change that mindset and narrative around mental illness and substance abuse in the Jewish community.

Jewish Teen Philanthropy Initiative 9-12 Gr

Participants will raise and allocate $10,000 to address real community issues through a consensus building and project-based learning model. Teens will meet monthly to research and explore organizations and causes they wish to support, learn about the process of grant making, hear from local philanthropists, and explore their own Jewish values.
