Beginner Wheel Throwing (March-May)
Intro to Ceramics:
Create fun sculptures and functional ware out of clay. We will delve into the very basics of clay hand-building construction using a combination of pinch, coil and slab techniques using surface techniques, slump molds and stamps to create imaginative forms ranging from sculptural to functional.
Beginner Wheel-Throwing:
Begin your pottery wheel journey in this beginner course designed for adults who want to learn the basics of wheel throwing. Learn how to prepare and center the clay, build the necessary skills to shape and form your pieces, then trim and glaze your creations.
Advanced Hand-Building:
Designed for students with some experience, this class explores more complex techniques like slab construction, detailed coil building and sculptural forms. You’ll also learn advanced surface decoration and design concepts to create unique, personal projects. With guidance from the instructor, you’ll have the opportunity to refine your craftsmanship and artistic style.
Advanced Wheel-Throwing:
Take your wheel throwing skills to the next level in this advanced course for experienced potters. Students will work on creating more complex forms like larger vessels, lidded containers and multi-part pieces. You’ll explore advanced techniques such as altering thrown forms, trimming and decorative finishes, with a focus on precision and control. With personalized guidance, you’ll refine your skills and create polished, sophisticated pieces. This course is perfect for those with prior wheelthrowing experience looking to expand their abilities.
