Hold Fast To It By Jennifer Pittsford

December 8 – January 15
Opening Reception on Sunday, December 7 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM.

The exhibition “Hold Fast To It” reflects Jennifer Pittsford’s journey as a visual artist working in collage and mixed media. Using torn magazines, paint and pastels, Pittsford layers texture and color to transform everyday materials into expressive compositions that explore memory and meaning.

Inspired by the prayer Eitz Chayim He (“It is a tree of life to those who hold fast to it”), “Hold Fast To It” serves as a meditation on memory, resilience and the ties between past and present. Through her intricate collages, Pittsford reflects on the act of “holding fast” — to faith, to family and to the enduring power of creativity.

A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Pittsford has explored art since childhood. Her passion for collage began while studying at the Milwaukee Art Museum through the Art Satellite Program and continued during her studies in Art History at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. After moving to Houston in 2003, her creative spark was rekindled when she began crafting large-scale collages for her home—an experiment that evolved into her signature body of work.

Today, Pittsford’s art celebrates transformation and the beauty found in repurposed fragments. She lives in Houston with her husband, two children and their gentle giant of a dog, Henry.
