J Camps
J Camps is the Evelyn Rubenstein JCC’s day camp program for children in preschool through grade 9 with options for art, culinary, dance, gymnastics, sports, tennis, theatre and so much more! We provide a Jewish summer camp that supports every camper’s social emotional growth as they form friendships, gain independence, build confidence and find joy in each day through a Jewish lens!
Week 10 of J Camps is almost here! This not only means that J Camps 2024 is coming to a close, but it also means that the JCC Maccabi Games & Access are almost here!
What does this mean for our J Camps campers and families? Here’s what you can expect.
- To accommodate the Games at the Main J campus, all camps other than Tennis Camp, Gymnastics Camp and Camp Bami will take place at the Merfish Teen Center (9000 S. Rice Ave) from August 5-9. This includes Kinder Camp, Kaleidoscope, Aerial Camp, Jr Aerial, Jr Rockband, Jr Glee and Best of Houston.
- Camp timing will not change. Camps will still run from 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM daily. Morning carpool begins at 8:30 AM. Please make sure you are familiar with our modified carpool map for Tennis, Gymnastics and Bami pick-up and drop-off. All other camps must be dropped off at the Merfish.
- Please also note that we are unable to provide AM transportation to the Merfish this week. If you have a child at both campuses, you will need to do two drop-offs.
AM Care
AM Care for both Tennis Camp and Gymnastics Camp will take place at the Tennis Center. Parents must park and walk their camper into the tennis center.
Camp Bami will have AM Care at the Bertha Alyce School (BAS).
AM Care for Kinder Camp, Kaleidoscope, Aerial Camp, Jr Aerial, Jr Rockband, Jr Glee and Best of Houston will take place at the Merfish Teen Center.
PM Care
PM Care for Camp Bami will be at BAS.
All other PM Care will take place at the Merfish Teen Center, including tennis and gymnastics campers. A bus will transport campers to the Merfish Teen Center.
Parents must park and walk in for pick up prior to 5:15 PM.
Parents must present their carpool tag to the J staff member sitting at the table inside the lobby. Campers will be escorted to the lobby for pickup.
Early Pick Up
Early pick up at the Merfish must happen by 2:15 PM.
Early pick up for tennis and gymnastic camp must happen by 3:00 PM. Parents will need to go to the front lobby of BAS to pick up gymnastics campers.
Please note that you will receive detailed information for individual camps in welcome letters coming later today.
