An Update from the J

I hope that this message finds you safe and well. Although none of us really know when the J will reopen, I do want to share with you that our staff and committees are conducting extensive research and partnering with many national and local entities to learn about ways that we will need to modify our operations to provide you with an environment that will ensure everyone's safety and well being.

This includes learning from the National Association of Education of Young Children, American Camping Association, Foundation for Jewish Camp, US Tennis Association, USA Gymnastics Association, fitness partners, and the Centers for Disease Control. We are following the new federal and state guidelines; we will balance our reopening decision upon the state entering Phase 2, in which schools and camps can reopen, with local guidance from Harris County and City of Houston. We want to be prepared with our protocols and have our program and facility modifications finalized to help guide our decisions regarding reopening facilities and scope of program offerings.

I hope that you will continue to take advantage of our online programming. This past weekend we had over 600 households watch YidLife Crisis: Homeshulling with us; also watch for an announcement about a special online comedy night. This Thursday, April 23, we have an online author talk with Dr. Rebecca Schrag Hershberg, who will provide some timely parent education tips. For those who were unable to donate earlier this month, we've scheduled a second blood drive on Wednesday, April 29. Thank you to everyone who has already signed up, and also thank you to everyone who supported our Meals on Wheels food drive last week.

Let's all find a few minutes today to offer our prayers for a healing of everyone's body and soul and wishing everyone to remain safe and healthy in the days and weeks ahead.

I look forward to seeing you soon at the J.
