Periodically over the past few months, we have provided updates on the progress of our Capital and Endowment Campaign to renovate our J. I am thrilled to share with you to date we have raised $41.3 million towards our $50 million goal. While we still have an additional $8.7 million to raise, our Board of Trustees is confident of our ability to reach our goal and last month approved moving forward with our very exciting and transformational renovation plans.
The Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center is pleased to announce the Sherry and Gerald Merfish and Family Matching Gift Program to continue momentum towards Our New J, the renovation and expansion project announced in February. The family has agreed to a $2-to-$1 match of any pledged commitment of $10,000 to $250,000 that is made by Labor Day.
Dear members of our community,
It’s been a while since we updated you on our renovation progress – nearly five months ago we announced a massive, multimillion-dollar overhaul of our facility. However, a lot has changed since late February, causing us to change the way we think, act and live. This includes the J.
While our programming and available facilities have changed over the last few months, our commitment to you – our community – will never waver. Now more than ever, all of us at the JCC feel we must support our community in any way possible.
We Are Renovating the J!
We are so excited to finally share that after four years in the making, the J will be undergoing a major renovation this September! Let’s take you back to how this all got started…
In 2016, we developed a master plan that would engage our members and the community in exciting and dynamic ways. Unfortunately, our plan was cut short in 2017 due to Hurricane Harvey. At that point, we knew that before moving forward, we had an obligation to revitalize our community first.
