Tu B’shvat Celebration in the Garden:

Treasures from the Archives: What Our History Teaches Us:

Behind every letter, photograph and keepsake is a story. In this course, we will open the vaults of the South Texas Jewish Archives to explore the lives of Jewish families who shaped Houston and South Texas. From the merchants of Galveston and the philanthropists of Houston to Holocaust refugees and local synagogue founders, see how memory becomes history. Each week will examine digitized materials from the archives and uncover the meaning hidden in everyday documents. Participants are also invited to share their own family stories as we connect our past to the present.

Mementos and Moments at the Mollie & Louis Kaplan Museum of Judaica:

Join Assistant Curator and Docent Carol Emery for four inspiring and memorable private tours of the Mollie & Louis Kaplan Museum of Judaica at Congregation Beth Yeshurun. Each of the tours will feature different aspects of the exceptional collection of the museum, including holiday ritual objects from several centuries and continents, as well as art from important artists like Rembrandt, Krestin and Chagall. We will compare several ketubot (marriage contracts) from Jewish communities and talk about holiday celebrations across time and distance. Come learn more about Houston’s Judaica jewel!
