We the Men: How Forgetting Women’s Struggles for Equality Perpetuates Inequality

Presented with Rice University Center for the Study of Women, Gender, and Sexuality
In collaboration with the Program in Politics, Law, and Social Thought and Department of Sociology

Women make up half the population, yet their fight for equality is often erased from laws, courts, and political narratives shaped by men. In this urgent and eye-opening work, Distinguished McKnight University Professor and Centennial Professor of Law at the University of Minnesota, Jill Elaine Hasday blends powerful personal stories with sharp legal insight to expose how sexism still defines our institutions. Why are struggles for justice so often centered on men? This bold call to action highlights women’s resilience and insists that real progress requires disruption and collective courage.

Convenient public parking is available by credit card purchase in the Central Parking Garage under the Jones School of Business, most accessible from campus entrances 8 (at Stockton and University Blvd) and 20 (at Kent and Rice Blvd).  Kraft Hall is approximately five minutes by foot from the Central Parking Garage.  Please see rice.edu/maps for more details.
