Dinner Party in Italy

Join Top Chef alumni Sasha Grumman as she teaches you how to prepare a perfect dinner party in Italy. Coming from a large Sicilian family, Sasha will take you through some of the classic comfort dishes she grew up with from this historic Mediterranean island.

Menu:

  • Panzanella, heirloom tomato, watermelon, basil and pickled red onions
  • Stuffed shells, Meyer lemon and herb ricotta, tomato sauce and Parmigiano Reggiano
  • Struffoli for dessert

Instructor: Sasha Grumman

Chef Sasha Grumman was raised in a dynamic Sicilian family in Southern California. After graduating from Kenyon College in Ohio, she moved home and fell in love with cooking. In hopes of pursuing her new found passion, she signed up for culinary school. She chose the Italian Culinary Academy offered through the French Culinary Institute in New York City, which also took her to Italy. She spent three months at ALMA culinary school in Parma, Italy and staged at the Michelin-starred Giuda Ballerino in Rome. She graduated at the top of her class and moved to San Francisco to work at Delfina Restaurant. She has cooked for top chefs all over the country, including San Francisco for six years, Los Angeles for two years, and Austin for one year. She then landed in Houston, Texas as the Executive Chef of the C. Baldwin Hotel. Throughout the pandemic, she worked for organizations such as the Southern Smoke Foundation, World Central Kitchen and started her very own focaccia business, called Sasha’s Focaccia. She was also a contestant on the hit Bravo TV show, Top Chef, which helped catapult her career forward. Awards and accolades include: Rising Star Chef in 2019 by CultureMap Houston, Best Pop Up/Start up in 2021 by CultureMap Houston, and voted Top 5 Culinary Hustlers in 2021 by Houstonia Magazine. She is now running her own Private Chef business and is selling focaccia online and shipping nationwide, under the name Sasha’s Focaccia.

Advance registration is required for all classes 24 hours before the class begins. Full refunds will only be given if a registration is cancelled at least 48 hours prior to the class. We request that all participants arrive on time for classes. For some classes, late arrivals may not be able to participate in the class.
