Jewish Book Festival: Heart of a Stranger by Angela Buchdahl
Born in Seoul to a Korean Buddhist mother and a Jewish American father, Buchdahl was drawn to faith at a young age. The first Asian American ordained as a rabbi, she overcame negativity and her own self-doubt to make her way from Yale to rabbinical school to the pulpit of New York City’s Central Synagogue. In 2011, Buchdahl was named one of America’s “Most Influential Rabbis” and her honest, intimate book is both a memoir and spiritual guide for anyone seeking deeper meaning in life.
