Sephardi: Cooking the History

Be one of the first to enjoy a culinary experience in the Cramer-Jacobs Family Culinary Studio, the NEW hands-on culinary kitchen at the J! There are many opportunities to continue your Jewish learning journey through food. Morgan Jankovic, The Foodie Chef, will lead you in the preparation of recipes from the featured Jewish cookbook.

In this culinary course, prepare recipes from the Jews of Spain and the Disapora, from the 13th century to today. Cookbook author Helene Jawhara Piner will appear virtually to discuss how she collected recipes from such diverse sources as medieval cookbooks, Inquisition trials, medical treatises, poems, and literature. A copy of the cookbook is included with this class.

Morgan Jankovic, also known as The Foodie Chef, is a passionate mother of two beautiful girls and a loving wife to her husband. She received her bachelor’s degree in business at St. Edward’s University and her associate degree in pastry from Houston Community College, which ignited her love for cooking and baking. In 2011, she started her own blog called the Foodie Chef, where she shared her culinary creations and insights with a growing audience.

Over time, Morgan’s blog evolved into a personal chef and cooking instruction business and her warm and welcoming personality has made her a favorite among her clients. Through her business, Morgan has helped countless individuals and families to discover the joy of cooking and to create delicious, healthy meals at home. She looks forward to sharing her love of food with many more people in the years to come.
