Shlicha, Evelyn Rubenstein JCC, September 2022 – Present

Hi! My name is Shoshi, I am 27 years old and originally from Efrat, a town in Gush Etzion, south of Jerusalem. I grew up with parents who made “Aliyah” to Israel from the United States, and have extended family living all over the states, keeping my connection with American Jews strong and a big part of my identity. During my army service, I chose to work with soldiers who were converting to Judaism, my focus being on Jewish and Israeli identity. My second job was working with olim chadashim (lone soldiers) in garin tzabar, helping the soldiers from different countries enlist in the army, adapt to Israeli life, culture and learn Hebrew.

I came to Houston hoping to form new connections and deepen the bond between our communities. I am looking forward to sharing my perspective on Israel and learning from each other.
