Sports Camps

Tennis campers focus on skill development and movement. The coaches work with campers to establish the fundamentals of tennis, including technical work on all strokes while making new friends in a fun and exciting environment. The most important parts of tennis camp are having fun, improving overall skills and giving your camper a sense of accomplishment.

Weeks 1 – 11

Gymnastics Camp is more than just gymnastics! We utilize state-of-the-art equipment and programming to stay physically fit and have a great time. Campers are divided into similar level groups to encourage interaction—a perfect way to work on learning new skills while making new friends! We incorporate active games and trampoline for fun and spatial awareness. Campers also have swim time each day in our J pools. Join the gymnastics camp fun!

Take your game to the next level with Rep City Camps and the Garcia Brothers. Campers focus on developing hitting, fielding, throwing, pitching and base running skills with seasoned coaches and live gameplay with their friends. Campers should bring a glove, bat, cap, cleats (or tennis shoes) and helmet.
Campers participate in recreational swim and other fun activities in the afternoon at the J. A special sports-related field trip takes place on Friday.

Time to tee off! In this camp, children travel to Clear Creek Country Club to work with Strike Golf Academy. Campers learn the fundamentals of full swing, chipping, pitching, putting, rules and etiquette. Whether they are brand new to the world of golf or ready to take their skills to the next level, Coach Ike works with all campers to make sure they have a great time!

Our multi-sport camp option offers the best of all our sports conveniently packaged into one exceptional week. It doesn’t matter if you have never played or if you are a sports enthusiast. Ignite a passion for all sports in this fun-filled camp. This camp is co-ed, specifically designed for grades 3-5, and features a different sport each day. Sports include basketball, krav maga, whiffle ball, indoor soccer, and pickleball. Playground sports like kickball, four square, relay races, and more will be incorporated.

GOAL! In this camp, children have a great time learning and improving their soccer skills in the cool of the indoors. There is a heavy emphasis on skills to beat opponents and shooting with a focus on five core topics including deceptive dribbling, goal scoring, combo play, individual defending and team defending.

This basketball camp focuses on the fundamentals of the game: dribbling offensive/defensive maneuvering, shooting and conditioning. Basketball camp strives to build confidence and
emphasizes having fun. This camp teaches kids about good sportsmanship, how to be a team player and other skills.

Two, four, six, eight! Secure your spot at the top of the pyramid at Jr Cheer Camp at the J. In this camp, children work on cheers, chants and dances. Everyone is welcome to participate in this high-spirited camp coached by seasoned cheer instructors. The week culminates in an end-of-week Friday performance to showcase all the cheerleaders learned!

Bump, set and serve at volleyball camp! Beginners learn the basics, while more advanced players work on strength and conditioning to improve their current skills. By participating in games and drills, they learn the fundamentals of the game as well as enhanced techniques.

Performing & Visual Arts Camps

In this week-long camp, campers take classes with experts in different dance styles so they can become a well-rounded dancer. Each day is filled with a fun mix of dance sessions, crafts and games. Campers explore ballet, jazz, hip hop, musical theatre and more. A variety-style showcase takes place at the end of this camp.

Our one-week Improv Camp teaches campers how to work and play together, creating hilarious moments and unforgettable performances as a team. The camp focuses on the basic skills of improv: teamwork, trust, acceptance and a “yes, and..” attitude. Armed with those skills, campers learn how to access and create bold characters and comical situations.

Make a movie in a week! This week-long camp gives campers the opportunity to learn the basics of filmmaking, including writing a screenplay, shooting video, acting and editing. Campers work together in small groups to create original video projects from scratch, and each receives a copy of their group’s finished product.

This three-week camp offers campers the opportunity to be part of a full–scale production of The Lion King KIDS. Based on the timeless animated movie and the landmark Broadway musical, this show brings the African savanna to life on stage in a story of courage, friendship and destiny. Campers experience all aspects of theatre, both onstage and off, and grow not only in their theatre skills but also in creativity and confidence.

Art Camp at the J is the place to let your camper’s imagination shine. Each week is a new experience, with campers working in different mediums or on different themes. Campers can register for one week or several and learn about different techniques and styles each time!

Specialty Camps

Follow your taste buds to the J’s state-of-the-art culinary studio and learn to cook like a chef! Campers will receive hands-on instruction in making (and tasting) delicious recipes. Recipes will be Kosher style and allergies can be accommodated.

Israeli Cooking 

Join Shoshi Bassan, our Israeli Shlicha, for an Israeli culinary camp experience.  Shoshi’s inspiration for cooking started with the “Ben Yehuda” market in Jerusalem.  It’s filled with fresh produce and spices of all colors and smells.

Chefs will take a journey and experience the sights, sounds and smells of Israeli cooking. We will learn how to make classic Israeli dishes like Shakshuka, Hummus, Falafel and more, in a creative and educational atmosphere.

Willy Wonka: Dessert Dazzle Delights 

Step into the magical world of Willy Wonka’s whimsical culinary adventures. Inspired by the imaginative creations from Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. Our creative hands-on Jr Chefs will be crafting fizzy lifting drinks to mouthwatering chocolates, and molding fantastical sweets creations, it is a delightful blend of creativity and tasty fun.

First Class Flight: Culinary World Tour 

Embark on a global culinary journey, to explore the colorful and delicious wonders of international cuisine. From creating Italian masterpieces, to the wonders of the Mediteranea sea, each session is a hands-on experience that sparks creativity and curiosity. Join is in Culinary Camp this summer and discovers the joy of cooking.

Join us this summer for an adventure in science, technology, engineering, art and math (S.T.E.A.M.). Campers have a chance to use their creativity and critical thinking as they explore robots, space gadgets, optics and more! Through hands-on projects and experiments, every camper has an opportunity to participate in the fun of S.T.E.A.M.

Counselors choose which places the kids liked most.

Join us this summer for horseback riding camp in the heart of Houston! Campers learn valuable skills in horsemanship, animal husbandry, arts and crafts and more! Every day, camp riders learn new horsemanship skills, have the opportunity to get up close and personal with farrier, vet and other equine practitioners’ demonstrations, and of course, have fun! We have a covered arena to get out of the sun or rain and an air-conditioned lounge and restroom.

Bring your singing voices with you to Bach to Rock for Glee camp. Inspired by the television sensation, this premier choral ensemble offers a dynamic atmosphere for campers to unlock their inner star! Campers explore fun vocal exercises, singing in harmony, and choreography while performing arrangements of popular songs. The J provides transportation to and from Bach to Rock.

Let your camper join a rock band this summer! Designed for all levels, this program is taught by real musicians and has students playing full songs in no time. Campers learn
